New version of SCADA
Please be patient - this page will have some information soon (before the end of 30/01/2026)
The new version of the SCADA system has been live for quite a while, and some teams and colleagues have already switched over to using it as their primary way of accessing SCADA. This gives us the confidence that the system is ready for a more general switch over - there are very obvious changes to the way SCADA looks and feels, but behind the scenes there are also significant changes to how it works.
What is happen, when?
January 2026
We sent out Trust wide communications with articles in The Source and the To Do List
The release of the new version of SCADA wasn't accompanied by any major changes to the new system, as we didn't want to introduce any new problems just as we ask people to start using it.
February 2026
As we released an updated version of the Alarm system, explanations of the changes were sent out out to the Regional Operational Managers. There were additional Trust communications in the To Do List explaining these to the alarm recipients, as well as an accompanying email.
We will gradually be increasing the prominence of the new version, to ensure our colleagues have chance to familiarise themselves with it. The old system will still be fully operational throughout February.
March 2026
During March we will deliberately break any bookmarks, links, and browser favourites, replacing them with a message about the changes. The old version will still be fully available, but at a different address. This is to encourage users to update these while their links to the new versions.
Any links to SCADA in documents will also result in the person clicking the link seeing the message about the changes.
April / May 2026
Towards the end of April, we hope to be able to turn off the old version. There will be no way to access it, and all access to SCADA data and functionality will be through the new version.
Permissions & Settings
Permissions
The new system uses a completely different set of permissions. This has given us the chance to correct a problem we had with the older version of SCADA in that peoples permissions were never altered to reflect their changes in job role and we suspect that colleagues had more permissions than they actually needed to perform their current role.
The swap over to the new version of SCADA has given us a chance to "start again" with permissions, so all users will only have the default permission set. You wont necessarily be able to perform the action you used to be able to.
If you find you need permissions you no longer have, please let the SCADA team know so we can assign them.
Settings
As with permissions, the user settings are entirely new. Some of the settings from the old version no longer apply to the new, and new options have been introduced. All colleagues will start with the default settings, and no favourites set up.
Help
The new version of SCADA has a built in help system, which points to locations in this Wiki. The work to write all the help pages is on-going, so please bare with us. To access the help their is a link on our Navigate page, and the new version of SCADA also has a context sensitive link on the Navigation bar (its a ?)
